MLA CE Course-Week 8

Exercise # 1 - Mashups and API

Learning about Mashups has been very informative. I had seen mashups used in commercials and movies, but never knew how they were created. Now that I have had the opportunity to look at the many different mashups that are available I know that the possibilities for their use are endless.
I found an interesting mashup called "Weather Bonk" it contains live weather, forecasts, webcams, and more on a Google Map, this is the link: http://www.weatherbonk.com/weather/index.jsp

Exercise # 2 - Rollyo - Searchrolls - Privacy

One of the librarian blogs on "How Public is your Privacy?" that I found to be similar to my own way of thinking was the one posted by Jenny, The Shifted Librarian. In her blog she quotes articles from the Washington Post and New York magazine portraying the differences between how the young generation views privacy as not important, what is more valuable to them is sharing of all information. On the other hand, the article from New York magazine points out how the "Baby Boomer Generation" has yet to grasp the fact that a truly private life is simply an illusion.
