MLA CE Course-Week 7

I truly enjoyed working on our assignment this week and looking at the different YouTube videos. I ventured to post a video into my blog and it worked! The use of Podcasting in the library is already something that has proven very useful not only for students but for faculty and staff. Podcasting is a wonderful new tool.

MLA CE Course-Week 6

This week's assignment not only taught me about Flickr it also showed me what a wonderful job the Library of Congress has done using Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/Library_of_Congress/. I have uploaded a photo from a recent trip to CuraƧao.

MLA CE Course-Week 5

Is this the future of all software products? What do you think?

I think that e-mail will most probably continue to be our way of communicating for the foreseeable future.  However, now that I have been able to learn about document sharing in real time, I agree that it is much simpler and quicker to use than e-mail attachments and it reduces the problems that arise from having to keep track of attachments.

MLA CE Course Week 4

Social Bookmarking:

I have found that social bookmarking can be extremely useful in our library. It is very easy to use and the fact that the bookmarks can be accessed from any computer is invaluable. And given that we are also a university, social bookmarking will be very useful in teaching.

MLA CE Course-Week 3

1. How can social networking be used to connect MLA members?
By using the social networking more MLA members will obtain updated information. Another
advantage will be that more librarians will also be able to learn more about MLA and its services and membership benefits, therefore, would be motivated to join.

2.  Should your library have a Facebook of Myspace page?
These social networking sites will perhaps not be extremely useful in our library.

3.  Are there privacy concern for individuals when using social networking sites?
Yes, one of the highest privacy concerns is that the information placed in the  profile is public and many be used by others for the wrong purpose.

4.  What did you like/not like about your experience with Facebook or Myspace?
My experience with Facebook was very informative. There are so many possibilities to network.  Setting up the various options of the account was fun and interesting.
